Brendan Taylor Ban: ICC bans Zimbabwean Cricketer for 3.5 years

Brendan Taylor Ban:

(Brendan Taylor Ban) International Cricket Council has banned Brendan Taylor for 3.5 years, as earlier in his statement where Brendan Taylor

told the world about getting an offer of spot-fixing by an Indian businessman, Taylor got the offer in the year 2019

but he didn’t tell the ICC or any concerning party immediately, in their release ICC announced ” Brendan Taylor

has been handed a three-and-a-half-year ban from all forms of cricket after he accepted four charges of

breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code and one separate charge of breaching the Anti-Doping Code

this ban is a huge blow for Zimbabwe cricket, as Taylor has represented Zimbabwe in 284 international

matches where he made 9,938 runs with the help of 17 centuries, ICC also added further

“He accepted the sanctions after admitting to various breaches of the Anti-Corruption Code while a

a separate charge of breaching the Anti-Doping Code was leveled against him for a positive

test result  for the stimulant Benzoylecognine, a cocaine metabolite, in September last year,” 


Taylor’s Confession

Brendan Taylor already confessed about taking the drugs which were offered by the “Indian businessman”

although he denied doing any kind of spot-fixing which he was asked to do, Taylor is not the first cricketer

who has been banned by ICC for spot-fixing related things, there are many cricketers in the history of the

game who were indulged in this kind of activities, some of them were even known as greats of the game

for example Hansie Cronje, the legendary South African skipper was also accused of fixing the match.

Some of the Indian players were also accused of doing the spot-fixing, Sreesanth one of the India’s fast

bowler was accused of spot-fixing in IPL but the veteran denied all the allegations and later he was freed from

court because of lack of evidence against him.
