Eoin Morgan: Tough road for Morgan as English Skipper

Eoin Morgan:

Eoin Morgan missed the last two T20i against West Indies, England lost the 5 match series by 3-2, but the problem for the English skipper hasn’t been over yet, Eoin Morgan has been struggling with the bat for quite a long time.

The form of English skipper has been poor and this is affecting the English team, especially in T20i in his last 23 T20 matches, Morgan has made only 329 runs, the average of English skipper is not even touching to 20 in his last 13 outings, where he failed to make a single half-century.

in his last 13 innings, Morgan has made 180 runs, and this is not helping his cause, Morgan will be turning 36 this year and it is high time for English management to look beyond Morgan.

in the last two matches, Morgan is averaging 15 with a strike rate of 73, the slump in the English skipper’s form has started from the year 2021, in the year 2021 Morgan played 11 innings, and in those 11 innings, he made only 150 runs.

the form of Morgan may not be an issue for England Cricket but his age is because now is the time that England starts looking for other options to lead their team in White ball format.

in test cricket Joe Root lead the English side but in the white ball, Morgan has been England’s skipper, in the last two T20 against West Indies which Morgan missed was led by Moeen Ali.

Who Are Other Options?

Now as we are saying that England needs to look beyond Eoin Morgan but who are those players which can replace him as captain in the white-ball format.

Wicketkeeper Jos Buttler is in the line and he might be in the vision of an English selector for white-ball format only, as he is failed to put an impact in the red ball so he might get the captaincy to lead the team in T20.

All-rounder Ben Stokes could be another player who can lead the English side.
