Former Indian Cricketer “Akash Chopra” feels that it is going to be a tough road for Indian veteran Ajinkya Rahane will find it difficult to get a place in the Indian team. Aakash Chopra said the appointment of KL Rahul as Vice-Captain is the indication that the veteran is running on borrowed time.
Ajinkya Rahane prior to South Africa tour demoted from his position of vice-captain and it was given to Rohit Sharma, but he pulled out the test series because of his hamstring injury, and then KL Rahul was appointed as Kohli’s deputy for India’s Tour of South Africa 2021. Rahane’s batting form has been up to the mark to carry him as vice-captain in 2021 Rahane’s poor form continued and the veteran batsman has been able to score only 411 runs in 21 innings with an average of 19.
Aakash Chopra quoted in his YouTube channel video that Rahane was captain of India two matches ago but now he is not even India’s vice-captain and things are changing in Indian cricket. India’s tour of South Africa will be a part of Test Championship 2021-23. and it is going to be India’s best chance to claim their first-ever test series win in African Continent.
Ajinkya Rahane has been India’s best overseas batsman but in the last year or so he isn’t able to put a performance up to his level and he scored his last century against Australia in MCG 2020. after that it has been dry of runs for the veteran and even if he is the part of playing XI this could be his last chance to prove that he is still worthy.
