I miss Mahi Bhai, ever since he has gone…

Team India head coach Ravi Shastri described Kuldeep Yadav as the number one spinner in foreign conditions after taking five wickets in the Sydney Test in 2018-19.

I miss Mahi Bhai

Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav has admitted that he misses the guidance of Mahendra Singh Dhoni (महेंद्र सिंह धोनी) while playing in Team India. His statement has come due to the decline in his form in recent times. Kuldeep Yadav has played only two ODIs and one Test in recent times. He admitted that due to a lack of consistent opportunities in international cricket and IPL, his confidence has decreased. Kuldeep says that wrist spinners like him like bowling in pairs. He took the name of Yuzvendra Chahal and said that since MS Dhoni has retired, both of them have not played cricket together. Earlier, Kuldeep and Chahal have said that Dhoni’s guidance has been very important in their careers.

“Sometimes I miss his guidance because he had a lot of experience,” Kuldeep Yadav told the Indian Express. He used to help us from behind the wicket. He was constantly shouting. We used to miss their experience. Now Rishabh is there, the more he learns, the more input he will give in the coming days. I always think every bowler needs a partner who can help from the other side. When Mahi Bahi was, I and Chahal were playing together. Chahal and I have not played together since Mahi Bhai went. I have played only a few matches since Mahi Bhai left. I must have played close to 10 matches. I’ve also taken a hat-trick. It will look good if you look at my performance overall, but my performance is not as expected. At the same time, we should also look at the opposing teams.’

The coach had told that the number one spinner has not got the foreign test since then.

Team India head coach Ravi Shastri described Kuldeep Yadav as the number one spinner in foreign conditions after taking five wickets in the Sydney Test in 2018-19. Kuldeep has not played in a single foreign Test in two years though. He played a Test in the home series against England in early 2021. Kuldeep said that he had taken a lot of pressure as he was making a comeback after a long time.

He said, ‘I didn’t play as many matches as I expected. At the same time, my confidence was also low. Confidence is also high when you play continuously. The more difficult it is to sit outside. I felt a lot of pressure on myself when I played against England in Chennai in February.’
