(Ind vs SA 1st ODI) India’s stand-in skipper KL Rahul has given the hint that all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer will likely to be groomed as fast bowling all-rounder as Indian team currently missing the service of Hardik Pandya.

and he also states that he is going to open the innings along side Shikhar Dhawan, who will be making his comeback to Indian team after a while, the first ODI game of the series will going to begin on tomorrow.

and in his interaction with media it got clear that Ruturaj Gaikwad had to wait for a while for his turn to play in the blue jersey, pitch of Boland park can tempt the Indian management to play both specialist spinners, Yuzi Chahal and Ravi Ashwin.

KL Rahul has batted on different numbers in World Cup 2019 he batted at number 5 but when Shikhar Dhawan got injured he was promoted to opening, he has played from opening to number six in ODIs.

KLR has opened for India on 18 ocassions and he scored 808 runs with an average of 50 which includes 5 half-centuries and 3 centuries, the second best position for KLR is number 5.

on number position KLR has played 10 innings and he has scored 453 with an average of 56.63 he has scored 4 half-centuries and 1 century, at this position.

But for South Africa tour KLR has confirmed that he is going to open the innings, though this is going to be challenge for him as this is first project as captain and he has to deal with lot pressure.

KLR wants his partner Shikhar Dhawan to be in good space, Shikhar Dhawan plays only one format and given his age this series will be decider of his career, as the management will like to fit Ruturaj Gaikwad into the playing XI sooner or later.
