Ind vs WI:
(Ind vs WI) The covid-19 outbreak has hit the Indian camp before the first ODI against West Indies,
starting from the 6th of February, 4 Indian players have been tested positive along with 3 support staff.
four team members who found positive are opener Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, middle-order
batter Shreyas Iyer and net bowler Navdeep Saini, along with the 3 support staff have also found positive of Covid-19.
as the outbreak happened Mayank Agarwal has been added to the Indian team, the team assembled on the 31st of January for the ODI series and were in 3 days mandatory isolation.
the ODI between India and West Indies will mark India’s 1000 ODI match, the test of Shikhar
Dhawan and Navdeep Saini were conducted on the 31st of January and the result came positive.
opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad’s test was conducted on the 1st of February and the result came in as positive, Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer are part of the time for a long time.
Now they being out of the team will force the Indian management to think something different because
the series will be over in just five days, it will start on the 6th of February and will be over by the 11th of February.
Will This Effect the Series?
as of now, there is no such statement from the officials related to the series, and teams now travel with a large contingent so there are very low chances so series being called off,
this can happen only if the outbreak happens to many people which makes it impossible to hold the series,
otherwise, the ODI series will go on as per the schedule,
the series consists of 3 ODI matches and 3 T20 matches, and Rohit Sharma will be leading the
Indian side as full-time captain for the first time in the ODI series.
Replacement of Player
apart from Mayank Agarwal, no replacement has been announced by BCCI, for the players
who are tested positive, maybe soon they will announce the replacement, for Shreyas Iyer, who bats in the middle overs for the Indian team.
the management may look for a replacement for Shreyas Iyer, as he is been part of a team,
and in the future vision of the selectors so losing him and Dhawan is a big blow for the Indian squad.
The first ODI match between the two sides will begin on Sunday 6th of February, and the ODI series will have 3 matches.
