Ahmedabad Franchise Captain
Ahmedabad franchise which is owned by the CVC group is looking for India’s senior all-rounder Hardik Pandya as their captain for their first season of IPL, the franchise has got clearance from BCCI.
CVC is the world’s leading venture capitalist and they got Ahmedabad franchise for 5625 crores, the franchise owner had to wait a little longer for their letter of intent to come from BCCI.
the delay in getting the green light from BCCI happened because of the CVC group’s investment in the betting firms although the group has no such investments in India.
the two new franchises Ahmedabad and Lucknow will have the choice of picking 3 players (two Indians and one foreign) from the pool of available players ahead of the Mega Auction in February 2022.
Lucknow franchise hasn’t made such a choice yet but they have added former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir as their mentor,
the dates of the upcoming season of IPL are yet to be announced but before that, the mega auction will happen and the teams will look to rebuild themselves as they had a choice of retaining only 4 players from their current pool.
the new franchise will allow picking three players before the auction, and then in the mega auction, the franchise will look to build a strong team as there will be lots of experienced players along with the new faces.
BCCI body yet to make a decision about starting the new edition of IPL, the decision will be affected because of rising Covid-19 cases in the country, the previous two seasons happened in UAE,
the first half of the 2021 edition happened in India behind closed doors, despite quarantine rules the players were also got coronavirus and thus the season had to stop mid-season, and then it was resumed later in September-october.
