The Indian Test team is yet to play a five-Test series in England.
Eager for IPL 2021
The Cricket Board of India i.e. BCCI is eager to complete the remaining matches of IPL 2021. Due to this, the Indian Cricket Board has asked the England Cricket Board to start the five-Test series early. The BCCI has said this week. As of now, there has been no response from the England Board in this matter. ESPNcricinfo has given this report. According to the present plan, the first Test match between India and England is to start in Trentbridge on 4 August. It is said that this step has been taken by the BCCI to complete the remaining matches of IPL in September. There are 31 matches left of IPL. After 29 matches, due to the Coronavirus, the tournament had to be stopped midway.
Under the current plan between India and England, five Tests are to be played. These include Trentbridge on 4-8 August, Lords on 12-16 August, Headingley on 25-29 August, The Oval on 2-6 September, and Old Trafford on 10-14 September. In the letter sent by the BCCI, it has been said that each test should be conducted a week early. The BCCI, led by Sourav Ganguly and Jai Shah, believes that the early start of the Test series will give three weeks to complete the 31 matches of the IPL. He is confident that to complete the match in three weeks, there can be many doubleheaders i.e. two matches in a day. After this, all the countries will start preparing for the T20 World Cup. This ICC event is to be held from mid-October to 14 November.
If England Cricket Board listen to the BCCI…
If the BCCI is to be believed, then it could have a profound effect on the plans of the England Cricket Board. Due to this, the planning of hotel bookings, bio bubble arrangement, TV broadcasting rights, and ticket sales will be disturbed. Also, he has to start the Test series a week after The Hundred. The Hundred is proposed between 21 July and 21 August.
All tickets for the Test series have been sold between India and England. Almost all tests are sold out. At the same time, it is not yet decided where the rest of the IPL will be held. For this, the names of UAE, Sri Lanka, and England are going on. But nothing has been said by the BCCI.
