Next Test Captain:
In 2014 when MS Dhoni took retirement from Test cricket (next Test Captain) it was well known who is going to be his successor, and it was none other than Virat Kohli, and once he took the captaincy of Indian cricket in Red Ball he became one of the successful captains in the longest format of the game.
but after India’s tour of South Africa where the Indian team faced the series defeat by 2-1 margin Virat Kohli surprised everyone by resigning from the leadership role in the red ball, and prior to that he also gave up on captaincy in White ball format as well.
now as Kohli has resigned now the Indian team is looking for a new captain in the longest format, Rohit Sharma is going to lead the Indian team in white-ball but his fitness is an issue.
due to his fitness, he is going to miss the entire South Africa tour, and along with that he is already 34 years old, he proved the decision of promoting him as the opener in the red ball by making runs in England tour so he is going to be the first choice of selectors.
apart from him, there are two other names as well, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul led the team recently in the second test of India vs South Africa, and apart from the red ball, he is leading the Indian team for the ODI series against South Africa.
Rishabh Pant can be seen as the future prospect for captaining, not sure whether we can see him leading the Indian side in all formats or not, Rishabh Pant hasn’t led the Indian team in any format as of now.
But he has captained his home side Delhi Capitals in the IPL where he was able to take the team to the knockout stage
